THE ALFREDO BINDA CYCLING SOCIETY

The Alfredo Binda Cycling Society, organizer of the historic Tre Valli Varesine since 1929, is a cornerstone of international cycling. With a track record that includes world championships and major events, it continues to promote cycling at all levels, with a focus on the future and the development of young talents.

The Alfredo Binda Cycling Society is a non-profit amateur sports association, internationally renowned for organizing the Tre Valli Varesine, a historic cycling race founded in 1919 and managed by the S.C. Binda since 1929. This competition significantly contributes to both Italian and global cycling traditions, boasting a roll of honor that includes champions such as Coppi, Bartali, Magni, Motta, Merckx, Moser, Saronni, Bugno, Nibali, Roglič, and Pogačar.

In addition to promoting cycling traditions, since 1967 the society has organized the Piccola Tre Valli Varesine, a key race for the junior category, which serves as an important launching pad for young talents.

The Alfredo Binda Cycling Society has in its organizer’s “palmarès” the hosting of three Road World Championships: 1939, which was not held due to the war, 1951, and 2008. In 2014, the society also organized the Italian Women’s Road Championship, for both the Junior and Elite categories.

The S.C. Binda also leads the organization of the Trittico Regione Lombardia, which includes the Coppa Agostoni, the Coppa Bernocchi, and the Tre Valli Varesine, three major events in the Lombard cycling scene.

Another significant achievement was the organization of the 2018 Gran Fondo World Championships, which saw the highest number of participants ever recorded, with over 3,000 amateur cyclists from 61 countries, turning Varese into a grand celebration of sport and generating considerable economic impact for the region.

In 2023, the UCI assigned the S.C. Binda and Varese the organization of the 2025-2026 Master Cyclocross World Championships.

The success of these events is the result of a collective effort, fueled by the passion and dedication of all members and collaborators of the S.C. Binda, its partners, volunteers, institutions, authorities, schools, and businesses. These stakeholders, firmly believing in the value of the race and international sporting events, have contributed to making these events a driving force for the local economy and a media showcase capable of bringing the beauty of the Varese province to the world.
